Golf Hits Pause Button Once Again

Just when we thought we were back on a role with Competition Golf. Ka-pow!! think again. The rug, just whipped right out from under us in just one fowl swoop. The old saying “just takes one bad apple” ringing so true. Although I do not remember the bad apples being so speedy as to being able to cause such havoc so quickly other than in fairy tales of course. Here’s hoping things are bought under control ASAP! allowing us to get back to everything good. Stay safe everyone!

Meanwhile before disaster struck Monday we held the last round of Pennant at Royal Yea complete with fog to begin with. As we were first off the rank playing Alex all were very used to these conditions boxing on dealing with the job in hand. A Big Thank You to our Super Volunteer, Bill Dredge who once again was up very early mowing the greens, presenting them in tip top condition for the competition. Thank you for your efforts. Today, for us was home advantage Yea winning 4/1 and although not winning us a place in the finals did elevate us from the bottom of the ladder. Finals were to be held this coming Monday at Euroa between Seymour & Kilmore. But of course had to be cancelled to a later date. Good luck to both the teams when they do get to play off and thank you to all Yea girls who participated in this years tussle. Top effort.

Wednesday 26th May we had another Monthly Medal up for grabs and another round of the Silver Spoon plus a putting Competition. Today was certainly a hard day at the office with all sorts of conditions thrown into the mix. We were all hoping not to get wet but that was not to be. When the Heavens did open up the temperature plummeted, which meant back on with the wet weather gear, up with the brolly’s etc. Hence not a very good score on the hole being played when that happened. Naturally all soldiered on to finish the day. Out there, might as well finish we say. All were glad to get packed up and head to the club house. Much to our delight and also we are most appreciative, two of our ladies whom had not played for one reason or another but being their turn on our roster went out of their way to make delicious soup (another who says she can’t cook) well that excuse has gone right out the window it was yummy! another delivered home made sausage rolls and a very naughty fudge. Thank you thank you girls top job and so good when your feeling cold. Our Bellies full on with the presentations. Today Vicki Clements (22) had a great day having 2 birdies and winning with nett 76 Both the Monthly Medal and the round of the Silver Spoon Well done Vicki. Runner up Meryl Connell (26) 78 nett. plus our Captain Miranda Gill had a Birdie and also a gobbler. Putting Competition winner, little ol’ me 30 putts. Not quite sure how that happened but I am very happy that it did. Festivities over it was home to relax.

Thursday it was a trip to the Hills and the boulders of Strathbogie for some. A place also been known to be wee bit chilly. Amongst the winners Margie Wright and Adrianne Anglin winning a NTP also Adrianne securing some more Bendigo Bank Player of the Year points keeping her in the top running. Congratulations always a Bonus Yea Golf Club taking home some of the prizes Go Yea!! Stay Safe everyone and we will see you all on the other side when we can say Happy Golfing!!
