Men’s Championship at Royal Yea
Saturday saw 24 men take to the course for the Club Championships at Royal Yea, down on last year’s field of 32. Those who turned up were rewarded with superb weather and a course in excellent condition — ideal conditions for a bit of serious golf!
Jonathan Fisher produced an excellent round of 79 off the stick for a nett 68 to take the day’s honours. Rick Wills (11) was hot on his heels with nett 69, while Gary Pollard (15) edged out Trevor Connell (21) on a countback, both returning nett 71.
There was no nearest-the-pin winner on the 11th, suggesting the golfers were either playing it safe or simply couldn’t get there! Chris Dunne took the putting prize with a tidy 26 putts, while Jeff Aurisch collected the Club Award.
