Friday saw the inaugural Bruce Kindred Cup played at Royal Yea GC. 57 players from various regional areas plus a large showing from locals played 4 Ball Best Ball and Individual Stableford Events. It was a time for football colours to be worn and to remember the contribution that Bruce gave to the Yea Golf Club. He held many official positions including Captain, President and Treasurer but also was a good golfer winning numerous events.
In the 4 Ball Event Dan O’Dwyer(22) and Hamish Stares(30) of Yea produced the outstanding score of 48 to win by 3 points from Terry Chaplin(21) and Chris Smith(23) on 45. Third on CB were Rob McDonaid(24) and Jim Doyle(20) of Broadford on CB from Rick(10) and Judy Wills(31) also on 45 points.
Ladies individual Winner was Vicki Clements(24) with 35 points from second Sue Aurisch(35) with 34 on CB from Judy Wills third. Chris Smith(23) has 39 points to win the Men’s Event from second Darcy Pell(26) with 38. Greg Clements(16) was third on CB from Rick Wills, Rob McDonald and Rob O’Halloran(19) all on 37 points. All Winners received trophies plus a $50 golf voucher each. Many thanks to the Kindred family for sponsoring the event.
NTP on the second was Phil Armstrong for the men and no one for the Ladies. There were no winners on the 11th, Rick Wills and Jenny Coleman on the 14th and Brian Simmons and Jan Wealands on the 18th.
