Saturday saw preferred lies in operation due to the recent rain, with 25 men contesting the second and final round of the Prideaux Cup at Royal Yea Golf Club. Although conditions were overcast, the rain stayed away and players enjoyed a pleasant day on the course.

Continuing his winning form from Wednesday, Anthony La Grutta (15) took out the daily event with 35 Stableford points on a countback from Bob Glenister (11). Greg Clements (16) was third with 34 points on countback from Brian Priestley (25), Alan Pell (12) and visitor Luke Barclay (6).

Phil Armstrong claimed the nearest-the-pin on the 2nd hole, while Jeff Moss won the Club Award. In the Matchplay Knockout, John Tanner recorded his first-round victory over Jeff Moss.

Greg Clements’ 34 points were enough to secure the Prideaux Cup with a two-round aggregate of 64 points. Anthony La Grutta finished runner-up, with Michael Spagnolo and Brian Simmons also finishing on 63 points.

Wednesday saw 13 hardy members contest a mixed Stableford event. Anthony La Grutta (15) continued his good form, winning with 34 points from Tony Rule (16) on a countback, with Phil Armstrong (17) third on 32 points.

Bob Glenister won the nearest-the-pin on the 2nd hole, while Brian Simmons collected the Club Award. In the Knockout, Tony Rule defeated Clint Rose to progress to the next round.
