Saturday saw the final round of the Men’s Club Championships played after a decent drop of rain. Play was delayed until 11.00am to allow conditions to improve, although a couple of early starters still managed to get thoroughly soaked, with some deciding that nine holes were quite enough for the day!
There were some close finishes in the various grades, although a few players had built handy leads going into the final round.
A Grade saw a terrific battle, with Andrew Bohn producing a final-round 76 off the stick to finish on 236 and claim the Club Champion title, just three shots ahead of Jonathan Fisher on 239. Rick Wills was not far behind, finishing third on 82 for the day.
In B Grade, Alan Pell finished strongly with a final-round 90 to take the Championship by a comfortable 15 shots from Tony Rule, who posted 92 for the day.
C Grade was another impressive performance from Robert O’Halloran, who carded the best score in the grade with 98 off the stick. He consolidated his lead to win by 14 shots from Jim Redmond, who finished with 104 in the final round.
The daily nett results saw the A Graders dominate, with Jonathan Fisher (11) leading the way with a nett 67, followed by Andrew Bohn (6) on 70 and Rick Wills (11) on 71.
B Grade honours went to Brendan Chenhall (15) with 73, while Peter Johnston (16) and Tony Rule were next both with 76.
In C Grade, Gareth Antrobus (36) took the honours with 75, ahead of Robert O’Halloran (22) on 76 and Kevin Coghlan (22) on 81.
Gareth rounded off a great day by winning NTP on the 10th and then converting the birdie putt – always a satisfying way to finish! Keeping things in the family, son Hamish took home the Club Award.

Wednesday Men’s Golf
Wednesday’s men’s competition was a Foursomes event, with partners drawn from a hat. Not everyone’s favourite format, but it certainly gives players the opportunity to team up with someone they might not normally play alongside!
Peter Johnston and Trevor Connell handled the format best, winning with 73.5 nett. Gary Pollard and Martin Lowe were runners-up on 75, followed by Alan Pell and Brian Priestley on 76.
There was no NTP on the 18th, while Zach Pell and Tony Preston picked up the Club Award.
A big congratulations to all our new Club Champions, grade winners and runners-up. It takes some consistent golf over three rounds to get the job done, and there were plenty of excellent performances from both the men and ladies this year.
