Monthly Medal Dominated by Bohn

Twenty-three men contested the June Monthly Medal at Yea Golf Club and it proved to be a day to remember for Andrew Bohn. Playing outstanding golf, Bohn returned a superb round of 74 off the stick for a nett 68 to claim the Monthly Medal by three shots.

To cap off a remarkable performance, Bohn also won the nearest-the-pin on the 14th hole and recorded an excellent 24 putts for the round to secure the putting.

Finishing runner-up was Tom White (16) with nett 71, followed by Peter Johnston (15) on 72. Rick Wills (11) was next with 73, while Tony Rule (17) headed the group of players on nett 74.

Steve Rumney was the recipient of the Club Award.

Wednesday’s competition attracted just twelve players, with many deterred by the rain that persisted until only five minutes after the nominated starting time. Those who ventured out were rewarded with improving conditions.

Tony Rule (17) took the honours on a countback with 37 points from Phil Armstrong (17), while Greg Clements (16) was third with 34 points. Greg also claimed the nearest-the-pin prize on the 14th hole. Mic Sheather won the Club Award on countback from two other players.

In the knockout competition, Brian Priestley defeated Gavin Houldcroft to progress to the next round.

The ladies contested the second round of the Mona Clarke Trophy. Nicola Rule completed a successful week for the Rule family, winning the daily event with 28 points on countback from Di Holdsworth. The overall winner of the Mona Clarke Trophy was Cindy Armstrong.
