Overcast conditions greeted competitors in the 2nd Round of the Prideaux Cup at Royal Yea Golf Club on Saturday. 16 men competed, with Brendan Chenhall (14) recording a very respectable 38 points to take out the daily award. Rick Wills (9) made sure Brendan didn’t make it a walk over with 37 points to finish in second place. John Phillips (19) and Peter Johnston (17) also had solid rounds recording 35 points apiece to fill the minor placings. NTP on the 11th went to Brendan Chenhall with a great tee shot that he duly converted for a birdie.
Tony Rule will be looking for relief from the handicapper, the rough and the Tax Office as June 30 is fast approaching Tony collected the Club Award comfortably with 22 points.
Karen Sangster (27) led the way in the Ladies Comp with a great round to finish with 36 points. Penny Britton (32) stepped onto the second tier of the podium to collect second place with 31 points.
The Prideaux Cup was contested over 2 Rounds with John Phillips a clear winner , recording rounds of 37 & 35 for a total of 72 points from second Brian Simmons 68, Rick Wills 67 and Brendan Chenhall 66 .
Wednesday saw a stroke & putting event with Bill Dredge(23) nett 71 winning from Alan Pell(15) 73 and Peter Johnston 74. There was no NTP on the second and John Renehan took out the $10 Club Award. Rob O’Hallaran with 29 putts won the putting.
