The Third Round of the Royal Yea Golf Club Summer Gender challenge was held on Wednesday 4th January.
Enjoying cool and cloudy conditions 29 Golfers assembled in good spirits to tee off.
There were some great scores recorded reflecting the tremendous condition of the greens and fairways at present.
Men’s winner for the day was Anthony Coleman (6) 37pts, closely followed by Michael Sheather (30) and Tony Rule (20) both with 36 pts.
Ladies’ winner was Cindy Armstrong (37) 37 pts with Sharon Grogan (33) and Vicky Clements (24) both finishing with 35 pts.
In the Gender Challenge Cindy took out 1st place gaining valuable points for the Ladies team. However, Anthony, Michael, Tony and Vicky filled the minor placings while the Ladies took the points for the having best Team Average. The Gender Competition (and associated friendly banter) is hotting up with Cindy’s win …. howver the Blokes extended their lead by 5 points on the day. Progressive Challenge scores are Ladies – 90, Blokes – 165
NTP saw a clean sweep by the Simmons’ with Christine hitting the pin and nearly holing out on the 14th … while Brian was closest to the pin on the 2nd. Carl Maffei took out the Club Award.
Next Saturday’s event is a Mixed Stableford and Wednesday 11th Jan is Round 4 of the Gender Challenge
