Firstly congratulations on such a fine day for the Jack Baynes Memorial. Well done everyone for making the day such a success!
Monday off we went to Marysville for the second round of Pennant not knowing just what the day would bring especially after the thunder and lightening storms overnight and into early morning. We went with everything packed for all occasions covering all bases. Thankfully we were not in need and actually ended up taking layers off, not needing them again until the end of the day when the clouds came threatening to drown us all. Just a drop or two to scare us. Phew!
Playing Marysville at Marysville is always daunting at the best of times but we all went out to do our best. Although there was a little strange incident for the day one of the local ladies spoilt her day by disappearing into a hole. Hence if her game wasn’t up to par before the tumble it sure shook the socks off her for her after game. Sadly we lost 3/2 but not without a battle. Two certainly got their moneys worth ending on the eighteenth having the local knowledge eliminating their hopes of a win. Can’t say we didn’t give it a good old go! Next week off to Trentham. Good luck Girls
Today we held the Doris Chambers Cup 18 hole foursomes. The perpetual trophy donated by Miss Doris Chambers OBE, a former Ladies Golf Union President, first played in 1950. First round to be played at club level, winners then to go onto the final, played at a different venue each year. Although a small field went to battle today a fun day was had by all. Ones game is totally different when playing alternate shots, the ball could end up anywhere, places you just never have played before. Lots of giggles, oh I am sorry I put you there, did I do a good shot, did that make up for the bad one etc etc. Lots of laughter on the field and in the club house after while enjoying a lovely lunch then Presentations. This year our Winners on a roll birthday girl, big week of celebrations, Di Holdsworth (24) and a new player Sharon Grogan (43) taking the honours. Well done girls will be a great experience heading to the big smoke for the finals. No NTP and only one gobbler for Penny Britton.
Next week Wednesday 12th, 2nd round of the Kath Homewood Aggregate. Good luck!! Happy Golfing Everyone!!!!
