Grand Final Week brought plenty of fun and variety to Yea Golf Club, with some different formats and plenty of good golf along the way.
Wednesday saw a Par 3 Day for both men and ladies, with the course set up in a similar fashion to Kyabram’s Parkland Par 3. While it wasn’t a Golf Australia-sanctioned event, that certainly didn’t detract from the fun, with everyone enjoying the challenge. Nicola Rule (46) showed the ladies how it was done, taking out the ladies event with an excellent 46 points, while Martin Lowe (16) won the men’s event with 44 points.
Friday was the Annual Bruce Kindred Day, with 29 players taking part. It was great to have Bruce’s son Andrew and his mates attend and support the day, continuing the tradition of remembering Bruce through a great day of golf and friendship.
The 4BBB was closely fought, with Vicki Clements and Miranda Gill combining for an excellent 46 points to take the honours, just edging out Luke Gregory and Brian Simmons on 45.
The individual events saw Vicki Clements (25) continue her good form, winning the Ladies with 39 points from Christine Simmons (26) on 38. Gary Pollard (16) took out the Men’s event with 38 points, one ahead of Russell Wealands (27) on 37.
NTP winners were Brian Simmons on the 2nd, Miranda Gill and Alan Pell on the 11th, Russell Wealands on the 14th, and Vicki Clements and Tony Rule sharing the honours on the 18th
Saturday morning saw 12 men squeeze in a Stableford round before everyone settled in for the big game that afternoon. Jim Redmond (23) took the honours with 38 points, narrowly defeating Rick Wills (12) on 37.
There was no NTP on the day, while Tony Rule took home the Club Award.
