Wow this changeable weather is a real hoot! One day sweltering then the next cold and rain just to mix it up a bit. All I can say sure glad today’s weather wasn’t yesterday or all would be heading for the warm fires instead of playing golf.
Saturday 3rd October last day of normal time was one hot day! Everyone thankful for a bit of warm enjoyed the day by playing the good old PAR. The cruncher game! The very humbling competition. Six ladies took on the challenge for 18 holes while 4 opted for the 9 holes. Winner for the 18 our very own Captain Doreen Lehmann (36) coming in with a plus 1 runner up Sue Aurisch (37) minus one. Nine hole girls Helen Burnett (54) and Christine Young (42) both came in with a square Helen taking the honours on a countback Congratulations girls!
Now we move to Wednesday 7th overcast and drizzle totally opposite but not to be deterred 11 girls went and braved the conditions for 18 holes and another 2 for 9 holes. Another mammoth day for comp due to Covid catch up on the table. Firstly another monthly medal and putting. As we saw last week Sue Aurisch (37) had a ripper day well she obviously wasn’t content with that win as she turned right around and had another red hot day! 105/37/68 winning another medal and the also the putting! 23 putts helped by having 2 gobblers no putting required! Go Sue please note that after today her handicap is coming on down (35) Congratulations Sue! Job well done!!!! Runner up Christine Simmons (23) 71 pts also a top effort!
As I previously said another big day catch up. Also today was the 2nd round of the Kath Homewood 36 holes stroke aggregate . Kath joined our club around 1959 serving many a position Lady Captain 1971, 72, 74, 75, 97 & 98. A pennant player for many years also Lady President for the Dalhousie District. Kath had much success over the years winning many a competition more than once, a tireless worker for the club earned her a Life Membership. Unfortunately due to Covid only three players were able to play both rounds and although disappointing still does not lessen the importance of the event. This years winner guess who of course the lady on fire! Sue Aurisch! When your Hot your Hot!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS ALL TOP GOLFING EVERYONE!
