Just when we all thought that golf was returning to some sort of normal think again. Bang got ya dead in the water once again! No doubt courtesy of complacent behaviour or just plain not caring about others has got us back into no competition golf. Only allowed out for essentials etc etc. There aren’t any printable words to express the feelings that we all share about the despicable behaviour which has placed us here in lock down once more. One can only hope that with the onset of spring, a season of growth, new things born, that we will eventually be able to join the happy times of spring. Sport, comradeship something we really miss. Just being able to go and compete in some sort of normal. At the moment these are just dreams of a better future. Come on the future I say.
So folks the last competition report for a wee while. Saturday 1st August 10 girls, suitably distanced of course, ventured out onto the course to see who could have the honours. As I understand there was quite a bit of good golf happening in the sunshine. Our Captain Doreen Lehmann(38) and Cheryl Roberts(32) decided to have a competition of their own both coming in with 36 pts but alas there can be only one winner. Today it was Cheryl’s turn and not only that she had a birdie for the day. Congratulations girls. Gobblers were also on the table Laraine Callander 2 and Sue Aurisch 1. Our 9 hole winner for the day Helen Bennett(54) one our new girls whoo hoo.
Wednesday the weather, well what can I say typical of Victoria 4 seasons in a day. Nevertheless 9 brave souls braved the day 5 to battle the first round of the Kath Homewood 36 hole stroke aggregate. Not to be outdone being runner up was not on her books today a win it was! Doreen Lehmann(37) (please note handicap coming down) 78 runner up Sue Aurisch(36) 81. The 9 hole ladies playing Stableford a Big Win for Penny Britton(48) 16 pts Go Penny!!!! All the practice the girls are having is certainly paying off. Thank you to Doreen for organising and all the girls that help on the day!! I am sure practice will still continue. Members are allowed to book in Wednesday and Saturdays playing in twos, one to a cart no competition. Donations appreciated. Enjoy looking forward to a better future cheers!
