Yea Ladies Newsletter

18th March 2026

Greetings fellow golfers,

On Saturday 14th March under sunny Autumn skies, eight ladies competed in the Saturday Stableford competition on offer. Christine Simmons (22) continued her recent form to win the day with an impressive 38 points.  Di Elliott (30) took second place on the podium with a very satisfying 37 points, just pipping Jan Wealands (29) on a countback.

On Wednesday 18th March, the Yea Ladies competed for the second round of the Monthly Medal.  However, it appears there was no competition for Margie Wright (24) who won the day with an incredible 60! Although there were some other great scores – Miranda Gill (16) coming in second with 72 and Jan Wealands (29) having another good day with a score of 75 – no one came close to our Margie. I expect Margie will be saying “good-bye” to her current handicap imminently!! Margie also won the putting with 27 putts.  Congratulations Margie – you played a fantastic game.  Our guest, Narelle, won Nearest the Pin.

However, some others on the daydecided that golf wasn’t difficult enough with merely driving, fairway shots, chipping and putting. Di Elliot found another way to make the game of golf even more challenging! The day concluded with lunch generously supplied by Judi and Carolyn.  Thank you!

The Phyllis Williams Bowl was held in Seymour on Thursday 19th March with Vicki Clements, Judi Newman and Christine Simmons representing Yea. I hear the course was heavy and unfortunately our girls didn’t take home the trophy this time. Christine had a bit of luck however, winning the lucky draw NTP. Thanks for putting up a good show for Yea, ladies!
