Saturday saw the 4BBB Champoinships contested at Royal Yea in ideal conditions with 30 players. The Ladies Championship is named for Laraine Callandar/Lorraine Christie, two former Champions of the club. Winners of the day with an outstanding 49 points were Di Elliott(29) and Vicki Clements(23). Second were last year’s winners Cindy Armstrong(29) and Judi Newman(38) with 46 points. Judi had the best individual score with 40 points from Di with 39. It was fabulous to have Laraine Callander present the winners with their trophies.
In the Mens Section, named after Rick Wills and Ross Davis, Paul Heyen(23) and Jim Redmond(23) combined for 47 points to win the Championship. This was Jim’s first board event win. In second with 43 points were Alan(13) and Zach Pell(11). Alan won the NTP on the 18th and Paul won the individual stableford with 39 on CB from Alan.
Wednesday saw the Men play a three person multiplied stableford event. Unfortunately for each team if one of the players had a pick-up then the team score for that hole was zero. Winners of the 15 men who played were Kevin Coghlan(21), Mic Sheather(24) and Martin Lowe(15) with 128 points. Second were Phil Armstrong(19), Greg Clements(17) and Rob O’Halloran(21) with 117. Greg was the best individual with 39 points from Martin on 38. Clint Rose was NTP on the 18th and Bob Glenister, Brian Priestley and Clint Rose took out the Club Award.
