Big Golf Week at Yea

The week started on Sunday with the Pennant Team winning their first match against Eildon at Whittlesea. Wins to John Tanner, Brian Simmons and Brendan “Trout” Chenhall saw a 3/2 victory. Many thanks to Sharon Grogan for assisting and Nutrients for sponsoring the new team shirts, the boys scrubbed up well.

This week saw 21 golfers and 8 partners attend the Murray River GW based in Yarrawonga. With everyone staying at the NMRA holiday park in Mulwala, it was a an ideal base for the trip. Monday saw 21 golfers play the President’s Course at Tocumwal GC. Winners of the four ball were Steve Rumney/Judi Newman with 43 points. Judy won the individual event with 35 points.

21 Golfers at Cobram-Barooga GC day two. Winners of the four ball were Tony Rule/Alan Pell with 43 points. Individual winner was Alan Pell with 36 points. The rest day Wednesday saw 14 participants in a wine tasting trip to Rutherglen while others went fishing or relaxed in Yarrawonga-Mulwala.

Thursday day 3 of golf was at the Black Bull GC in Yarrawonga. Winners of the four ball were Sam Wright/Steve Rumney with 42 points. Individual winner was Lorraine Christie who joined us for the day. Lorraine has won 19 individual Club Championships at Yea. Playing off 25 now, she had 34 points to win the day’s event.

Wednesday at Yea there was a mixed stableford event with Brian Priestley taking out the Stay at Home Cup with 38 points. Second was Caroline Webber with 36 points. Saturday saw another mixed stableford event with 29 players. Zach Pell(21) with 39 points took the win from Phil Armstrong,(21), Jono Ness(14), Peter Johnston(16) and Brian Simmons(11) all on 37 points. NTP’s went to Sharon Grogan for 3 and Rick Wills for 2 on the 10th hole. The lucky Club Award $10 went to Rob Gill.
