Promising junior member Oakley Ness proved the damp conditions were no barrier in Saturdays Stableford Event at Yea Golf Club. Ness (30) recorded 41 points to be a clear winner from another new member Chris Keogh (42) who posted a very impressive 38 points in difficult conditions. Both Oakley and Chris will be receiving a trim from the GA handicapper, but a great result for new club members who are both practicing hard to become better golfers. Phil Armstrong (21) filled 3rd place with a respectable 36 points. Oakley Ness scooped the pool also taking out NTP on the 10th. Grandfather Murray Ness made it a quinella for the family taking home the Club Award.
The Ladies had 6 starters but the alternative of coffee at Marmalades proved far more attractive after 9 holes. Jan Wealands and Karen Sangster were leading the way with 13 points apiece when the option of Marmalades appeared far more attractive. But well done to all those that braved then elements.
Wednesday saw much better weather conditions with Brendan “Trout” Chenhall(14) posting 35 points to win the stableford event. Gary Pollard(13) pipped Alan Pell(15) for second with 34 points on CB. There was no NTP on the 18th and GraemeBryant won the Club Award.
