Yea Golf Club members competed for the March Monthly Medal on Saturday with Club President Gary Pollard (14) eclipsing the field with an amazing 61 nett to take the honours. Neil Peterson (15) had a great round also, posting 68 nett but had to settle for second place. Martin Lowe (20) nett 69 filled third place with a fine round. Gary Pollard displayed the value of good putting with just 21 putts to take out the Putting Award. All the putting practice during the week on the Annual Trip Away to Albury proved very beneficial.
NTP on the 18th went to Tom White. Whilst Rob (Lotto) O’Halloran took home the Club Awatd.
In the Ladies Stableford Judi Newman (40) with 33 points got the chocolates. Karen Sangster (23) returned to form with 30 points to take out second place. Karen also added to the booty by taking out NTP on the 18th Hole.
A very enjoyable day had by all and great to be playing golf at Royal Yea again.
During the week 30 golfers played up north at the annual golf week. Playing at Commercial Albury, Howlong, Thurgoona and Corowa Golf Clubs. Winner of the week (based on 3 rounds) with 93 points was Paul Clayton. Gary Pollard was second with 91 from third Greg Clements with 90. Whilst some of us were away, the “Stay at Home Cup” Stableford Event was played at Royal Yea on Wednesday with John Phillips(19) taking the honours with 35 points.

Gary actually beat his age with his score. That is a rare achievement. Having played golf for 46 years, that is the first time I have ever played with someone who has achieved this feat. AMAZING
