Success for the Yea Lady Golfers!

Stop the press! Big exciting news for Yea Golf Club. Six Ladies, 2 Teams tentatively loaded their cars having not received the message “Event been cancelled” with the wet weather gear, change of clothes just in case something leaks, wandered off to the Sand Scrapes of Avenel to try their luck.

I had told Avenel Ladies that I would keep everything crossed for a good day weather wise so upon my arrival I apologised I had not crossed enough things. Although the rain was a nuisance we were pleasantly surprised the course was not as wet having great drainage, plus being a light drizzle and did stop from time to time, all in all wasn’t a bad day. The best part with the moisture the sands were compacted so the general house keeping was put to a minimal ensuring a quicker game. As usual the Avenel Ladies to top it off supplied a wonderful lunch after us enjoying a cup of soup on the way around. Thank you your hospitality very much appreciated.

All returning to the car park with tales of woe, what if or oh I had a good day we all lightened the load, shedding the wet weather gear to return to the Club House for the much awaited results and of course food and great comradery . Tummies full it was time to announce the results. We of course were totally stoked that Team 2, Myself Karen Sangster, Di Elliott and Jan Wealands claimed the day winning the Mabel Vearing Silver Salver by one point from Marysville. Go Yea!!!! receiving a beautiful plant and a 30 dollar gift card for our efforts. Made for a very happy day. Another Yea lady Adrianne Anglin also won a NTP. Congratulations girls we did good!

Wednesday 14th we were able to play our course so the competition for the day was a Monthly Medal, Round of the Silver Spoon and putting. Eight Ladies enjoyed being back although teeing up was required in some places mostly the course was in good nick. Todays winner Adrianne Anglin (13) 77 nett with Veteran Laraine Callander runner up 80 Nett. Laraine also had a great day putting having only 27 putts. Well done. NTP Vicki Clements.

Friday the 9th 5 Ladies had an early start to travel to Yarrambat. What a long day it was, long course long game 5 hours but we were rewarded again with a nice lunch. Weather very pleasant. Success for the day Team member Vicki Clements, who seems to be on a role won another NTP. Well done.

Next Wednesday hopefully we can play, unlike tomorrow raining again as I write we will be attempting to have a 2 person ambrose.
