Saturday saw the Foursomes Championships for Men and Mixed Teams plus an individual Stableford Competition for those not in foursomes. Foursomes involves hitting one ball between two players with one person hitting first off the odd numbered holes and the other player hitting off on the even numbered holes. Winners of the Mixed Foursomes, both scratch and handicap were Brian(11) and Christine(23) Simmons with 86 nett 69. Second were Jeff(19) and Sue(33) Aurisch with nett 72. Third were Peter Johnston(18) and Di Holdsworth(27) with nett 72:5.
In the Men’s Foursomes it was a close event with the result going down to the last putt. Winners on CB were Wayne Rowe(12) and Alan Pell(12) with 81 nett 69, from playing partners Kevin Coghlan(22) and Malcolm Bett(26) second. Third were Carl Maffei(23) and Rob O’Halloran(18) with nett 72.5. Wayne and Alan also won the scratch event.
Rob O’Halloran and Carl Maffei will contest in the final of the Club Knockout Cup on Wednesday.
The individual Stableford was won by Jonathon Fisher (16) with 41 points from second Mick Spagnolo 40, Lachie Wischer(17) 40 and Ken Whitfort(8) on 40.
Gold Medal Winner Bill. Dredge received his trophies on Saturday for his win last week.
