On a typical spring day containing both showers and warm sunshine there were 24 in the field for the Monthly Medal playing stroke and putting. It was terrific to see two returning members playing on the course after some time. Jeff Moss and John Phillips had indifferent days but we hope to see them back out and playing a lot more.
Winner with a nett 70 was new member Dan O’Dwyer(24), who won $60 plus a Club Medal. Second on CB with 71 was also a new member in Hamish Stares(31) winning 3 golf balls. Third was Jonathon Fisher(16) with 71 and he also won the putting with 25 putts! He collects 3 balls. Fourth was Alan Pell(15) with nett 72 from 5th Ken Whitfort(7) with nett 73 on CB from Jeff Aurisch. They both win one ball each. NTP on the 18th was Phil Armstrong and the Club Award went to John Phillips.
The stroke event held today was the final round of the “54 Hole Event” one of our men’s board events. Last year’s winner was Peter Johnston. The top 10 placings on each of the Stableford, Par and Stroke Events receive 10-1 points each round. This year with 24 points the winner was Club Captain Alan Pell. Carl Maffei was second with 18 points and Dr.Martin Lowe was third with 14 points.
Next Wednesday sees a Stableford Event being played for the men. Next Saturday sees the start of the Men’s Club Championships. Three grades will be involved with A Grade – (0-13), B Grade – (14-20) and C Grade – (21+). There will be scratch and handicap winners each week. The Championships will be conducted over 3 weeks. The best handicap score from all three grades will win the Clarke Trophy.
