Final Round – Saturday

A field of 28 men contested the final round of the NJ Murray in excellent conditions, with the course presented in wonderful order.

Young gun Oakley Ness (18) produced a superb round to win the day with 42 points. Rob O’Halloran (21) finished second with 35 points on countback from Peter Johnston (15) and Alan Pell (13). While John Renehan (46) claimed fifth place with 34 points.

Nearest the Pin on the 14th went to Jeff Aurisch, while Tony Rule took out the Club Award.

The overall NJ Murray winner was Alan Pell with 65 points, narrowly edging out Rob O’Halloran on 64, with last year’s winner Bill Dredge close behind on 63.

Wednesday Golf Report

A typical Yea winter’s morning greeted players, with early fog clearing to a delightful sunny day.

Seventeen men competed in a 3 Person Irish Stableford event, with Rob O’Halloran, Tony Rule and Brian Simmons combining well to win with 72 points. Runners-up were Bob Glenister, Zac Pell and Gary Pollard on 70 points.

Jim Redmond (23) recorded the best individual score of the day with 38 points, while Bob Glenister (11) also impressed with 36 points.

There was no winner for Nearest the Pin on the 11th, and the Club Award cash jackpot was collected by Peter Johnston, John Phillips and Phil Armstrong.


Ladies Report

Foggy conditions greeted the ladies for the first round of the Mona Clarke Trophy last Wednesday.

Christine Simmons leads the event after posting 36 points, followed by Cindy Armstrong on 34, with Marg Bailey third on 33. The second round will be played on June 10.

In Saturday’s Stableford round, 10 players enjoyed glorious sunshine and a course in excellent condition. Sharon Grogan led the field with 38 points, closely followed by Christine Simmons on 37.

There were no Nearest the Pin winners, but plenty of highlights on the course. Lois and Vicki both recorded gobblers, Addison Scott marked her return with a birdie gobbler on the 16th, and Christine Simmons added a gobbler and a birdie on the 4th.
