29th April 2026
Greetings fellow golfers,
It has been a busy golfing week, with our first event being the Callander-Christie championship. This event was played on Saturday 25th as a 4BBB Stableford team event. Four ladies’ teams competed on the day with Vicki Clements and Di Elliott winning the day with 49 points. Cindy Armstrong and Judi Newman claimed second place with 46 points. Well done, ladies.
It was another big day for several ladies on Monday as they headed to Seymour to compete in the Pennant competition.

Our representatives, Christine Simmons, Di Elliott, Judi mNewman, Penny Britton and Sharon Grogan competed well but were eventually defeated by Lancefield, 3 to 2. Christine reported that it was a lovely day with the course in excellent condition. Our two “new-to-Pennant” ladies, Penny and Judi both won their matches so a big shout out to them for controlling any nerves and getting the job done. Their fellow team members, Sharon (also new to Pennant), Christine and Di had “valiantly fought out losses” (Christine’s report). As a club, we are all very proud of the whole team and thank them for representing us. They also photographed beautifully in their club shirts, I must say!!
Wednesday, 29th April was Round 2 of the Kath Homewood trophy. The trophy is played in honour of life member Kath Homewood who was Ladies Captain, President and Pennant player over many years. The stroke event was played in superb conditions with the winner of the trophy being Jan Wealands, who played yet another very fine round and backed up last week’s amazing golf with some very consistent play. Keep it up, Jan!!! Winner of the day’s stroke event was Cindy Armstrong (29) with a lovely round of 70, whilst Jan (26) placed second. NTP was won by Meryl Connell. The “Hole of the Round” was also won by Meryl who managed to rack up a 12 on the 15th thanks to a very tricky flag placement and some very poor putting! You have to laugh I guess!!! Christine Simmons however, didn’t want to putt that nasty green at all so just chipped in!
The day was made extra lovely by being able to celebrate Di Holdsworth’s birthday with a lunch (including birthday cake) generously provided by Di E and Cindy. Thanks so much girls and Happy Birthday, Di!
Until next time ……Happy Golfing!
