The fire events from Thursday onwards have reminded us all of what truly matters — lives, livelihoods, homes and farms. At Yea Golf Club we are extremely grateful that our town and club were spared, while recognising that many others were not so fortunate. If there is anything Yea GC can do to assist those in need, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
As a result of these events, the Murrindindi Masters scheduled to be played at Yea on Saturday was cancelled. Details regarding the revised fixture will be announced later in the week.
Last Wednesday saw the third round of the Gender Competition, played as a Par event.
Winner of the day was Robert O’Halloran (20) with an excellent +3. Due to the handicap adjustment for having four extra players, the first men’s result was not included in the gender tally.
Second on the day and Gender Winner was Cindy Armstrong (29) with +2, followed by:
- Christine Simmons (23) +1
- Sharon Grogan (23) +1
- Meryl Connell (23) +1
- Rob Gill (33) +1
The ladies recorded the stronger team performance, scoring 80 of the 85 points available on the day.
Overall, the ladies lead the competition with 165 points to the men’s 90. The blokes have some catching up to do, but with six rounds still to play, there’s plenty of golf left in the contest.
