John Phillips Leads Prideaux

A typical autumn day greeted competitors at Yea Golf Club on Saturday. Early fog cleared and delivered a glorious sunny afternoon. 19 Men contested the 1st Round of two for the Prideaux Cup. John Phillips (19) returned from his northern hemisphere escapade to Canada / Alaska and adapted to the cooler environment well , posting 37 points to take out the days event and an early lead in the Prideaux Cup. Brian Simmons (12) was a galant second with 35 points. Allan Coates (8) , Phil Armstrong (21) , Tom White (17) and Andrew Bohn (8) all recorded 34 points with Allan and Phil getting the nod on countback for the minor placings
Rick Wills found his range on the 18th to win NTP and Mick Spagnolo with 18 points was a comprehensive winner of the Club Award. John Phillips defeated Martin Lowe in the 1st round knock out competition
9 Ladies competed in a Stableford competition and Cindy Armstrong (32) handled the conditions best to record 35 points. Christine Simmons (28) was a close second with a great round of 34 points and Di Holdsworth (26) rounded out the top three with 33 points. Christine also added the NTP on the 18th to her take home booty.
Next years Golf Trip has been decided and we are going to Yarrawonga/ Mulwala. Monday 24th March – Thursday 27th March. FYI. The NRMA Holiday Park – Mulwala has enough accommodation to cater for up to 40 people. Ranging from 1, 2 and 3 bedroom cabins. Rates are very reasonable. If we book in excess of 10 cabins we will get a 15 p/c discount. If you book direct with them , tell them you are with the Yea Golf Club.

Last Wednesday it was decided to move the starting time back to !0:30am to allow the fog to lift. Well it did but not til 1:30!! The four stick event was won by Brian Priestley (28) with 31 points from Brendan Chenhall(14) 30 and Russ Wealands(23) 29. NTP on the 18th was Martin Lowe and Peter Rae won the Club Award.
