Yea Golf

Clear skies and sunshine were the order of the day at Royal Yea Golf Club on Wednesday. Members and guest competed in a 18 hole Par 3 competition. Everyone appreciated the organisation and set up required to make it an enjoyable and fun day.
Ladies winner was Margie Wright who led the way with 36 points from Penny Britton who finished with 32 points.
There was no NTP from the 10 ladies on the 2nd hole.
In the Mens competition Rob Gill showed the benefit of all his practice over winter culminating in victory with 37 points Rob also took out NTP on the 2nd hole to make it a great day.
Rob O’Halloran, Michael Sheather , Phil Armstrong and Stephen Rumney all finished with 34 points but Rob and Stephen took out the minor placings on countback.
Gary Pollard displayed all his experience to collect the Club Award $10.

On Friday the Social Gathering for Members and friends was held. A huge thank you to all who contributed to the success of the Charades Night. Bar BBQ Kitchen and Clean Up all did a great job. Highlight of the meal were the superb deserts from Cheryl’s Kitchen at the House of O’Halloran. The charades provided plenty of laughs and highlighted both the moderate and magnificent theatrical skills we have in the Club. Some photos above.

Saturday saw, after mid week rain , cold overcast weather greetyng members at Royal Yea Golf.
With the Tees off the back markers for the Monthly Medal all players found the going difficult despite the course looking fantastic.
Club President Gary Pollard (14) net 73 bounced back to form after his mid week slump to capture the September Monthly Medal from Brian Simmons (13) net 75 and the very consistent Kevin Coghlan (21) net 76
The Ladies numbers were down on recent weeks due to the weather but Sharon Grogan proved she has more talent at golf than Charades taking out the Ladies Stroke event with a net 79
Penny Britton (38) net 83 had to settle for second place after being in the winning team on Friday evening.
To round out a big weekend of golf Greg Clements and Tom White travelled to Broadfod for their Annual Tournament on Sunday
Tom (24) net 76 finished 4th in C Grade a fantastic result.
Any enquires as to Greg’s score should be directed to him personally as they were unavailable at the time of going to print.
