Although locally we haven’t had our opening day which by the way is this Wednesday 3rd March 9.00 for 9.30 start we have had a couple of away matches and a little home golf. As you know we have to redeem ourselves after our sad loss to the men folk, get plenty of practice in readiness for the next up and coming Gender Challenge. Congratulations boys I am sure you all enjoyed your lunch and a little bit of entertainment a little bit prickly ha ha
Firstly we had a couple of cancellations due to covid which will be played at a later date. So first comp for the year two teams went to Alexander Golf Club for their yearly Bowl and although we weren’t lucky enough to secure the bowl we had a very handy couple of A grade players having great scores. Miranda Gill and Adrianne Anglin. Adrianne having 38 points for the day took out A grade and managed 4 player of the year points Congratulations Adrianne. top effort wonderful start to the season.
Then we move back to local Saturday Golf . Numbers playing are growing more to train for the Gender Challenge boys lookout. Six new members and five of the more established members took to the field for 18 holes stableford. New comer Cindy Armstrong (54) managed whopping 39 points to win the day with Meryl Connell (28) 36 points for runner up. Two ladies had a wee tussle for the nine hole event Amanda Harris (54) and Lynne Rieger (54) Amanda being the victor with 11 points. Another exciting feature Three Ladies shaved a few strokes off their handicaps both Cindy Armstrong and Helen Burnett down to 52 and Meryl Connell 1 stroke 27. Keep it up girls!
Sunday last day of the month four of our girls decided they needed a little more practice so took themselves to the rolling hills of Strathbogie to compete in a 4BBB. Proved to be a very wise decision. All four come home with the goods. Both teams had 46 points which of course in comes the old countback Team Sue Aurisch and newly handicapped Helen Burnett rolled the more seasoned Team Cheryl Roberts and Doreen Lehmann. Helen also took out the NTP on the 15th. Am guessing Helen’s newly acquired taste of golf isn’t going to end soon. Sounds a very enjoyable day was had by all. HAPPY GOLFING EVERYONE SEE YOU AT THE OPENING!
