Phillip Island Golf Week

PI Golf Week Report

Sunday night saw 37 people gather at the Phillip Island RSL for dinner, with everyone excited for the week ahead.

After two days of competition in this year’s Golf Week, the pace both on and off the course has been hectic.

Monday saw 30 players take on Lang Lang Golf Club, a definite gem of the area. Cindy Armstrong claimed victory with 36 points, narrowly edging out her husband Phil on 35. Jeff Aurisch finished third with 34 points, followed by John Phillips in fourth with 32.

In the 4BBB event, Cindy Armstrong and partner Nicola Rule stole the show with 46 points. Second place went to Alan Pell and Jeff Aurisch with 41, while John Phillips and Jan Wealands finished third on 40.

Monday night saw over 30 people attend a BBQ at the Anchor Belle Caravan Park.

Tuesday involved an hour’s drive to Leongatha Golf Club, where recently cored greens provided a very different challenge to the day before.

The winner was an elated Di Elliott with 37 points, from Sharon Grogan and Tony Rule who both scored 35. Gary Pollard finished fourth with 34.

In the 4BBB, Di Elliott and Sharon Grogan combined brilliantly to win with 43 points. Jan Wealands and Judi Newman were second with 42, followed by Bob Glenister and Tony Rule in third with 41.

Tuesday night featured another great gathering at the caravan park, with Bob and Martin cooking up paella for around 35 people.

Wednesday was the scheduled rest day, but 12 keen golfers tackled the Red Rock Par 3 course in Cowes. The winner over nine holes, continuing his excellent form, was Tony Rule with 19 points.

The afternoon saw a mix of activities, with some heading out shopping, others visiting a winery, and a few opting for a well-earned rest before choosing between Italian or Chinese for dinner.

Thursday will see the final round at Phillip Island Golf Club for the Championship.

Leading contenders are:

  • Di Elliott – 65
  • Jeff Aurisch – 63
  • Phil Armstrong – 63
  • Gary Pollard – 62
  • Khai M-Noor – 62
