
At this time in Winter, fog and cold is being changed around noon to sunny and ideal arvo conditions for golf. That was the case on Saturday as 17 men and 7 ladies ventured out on Royal Yea. Par was the event for men with Peter Johnston (16) showing excellent form to win with +1. Second was Russ Wealands(23) with Square on CB from third Paul Clayton(9) and fourth Jono Ness(13) on -1. Jono was also NTP on the 11th and Bill Dredge took out the Club award. Jan Wealands(27) with 35 points won the Ladies Stableford Event from Cindy Armstrong(27) and Margie Wright(23) both on 33 points.
Progress points in the 54 Hole Event with one round to go are: Jono Nes 14, Russ Wealands 13, Mic Spagnolo 12, Brian Simmons 11, Peter Johnston 10, Zach Pell 9, Paul Clayton 8, Jonathon Fisher 6, Oakley Ness and Trevor Connell 3, Greg Clements 1.
WEDNESDAY GOLF REPORT
17 members assembled to contest a Stroke & Putting event on Wednesday. Conditions were quite good considering the rain earlier in the week, and this was reflected in the scores posted.
Johnathon Fisher (17) came out trumps in the Mens event posting a fine 68 nett. Playing partner Greg Clements (18) provided strong competition to finish second with 71 nett. Billy Dredge (25) rounded out the top three with very neat 72 nett. Johnathon also took out the Putting Competition with a very impressive 23 putts. Sam Wright won a tight tussle with Neil Peterson to take home the Club Award.
Vicki Clements (24) , fresh from overseas travel led the way in the Ladies event posting an impressive 75 nett to collect the chocolates. Ladies Captain Jan Wealands (27) continued her recent run of good form with 81 nett to finish second. Cindy Armstrong (27) and Di Holdsworth (28) tied for tied place on 83 nett.
There were no winners in NTP for Mens or Ladies as the 2nd green proved very elusive.
