Foursome Championships

Saturday saw 40 players contest the annual Foursomes Championships. The weather and course were ideal. Our few “Augusta” type greens did cause problems for some pairings.

In the mixed event Judi Newman(40) and Steve Rumney(26) took the honours with nett 70. Runners-Up were Jeff(21) and Sue Aurisch(34) with nett 71.5. Third were Phil(21) and Cindy Armstrong(32) with nett 76.5. Scratch winners were Jo(23) and Paul Clayton(10) with 95 off the stick.

Mens foursomes winners were Brendan Chenhall(15) and Kevin Coghlan(22) with nett 73.5 from second Mic Spagnolo(6) and Ken Whitfort(9) with nett 75.5 on CB from third Allan Coates(10) and John Tanner(25). Scratch winners were Mic and Ken with 83 off the stick. NTP on the 14th was Sam Wright, with John Phillips and Margie Wright NTP’s on the 11th. The Club Award went to Neil Peterson and Rob Q’Halloran.

It was fabulous to have a big field of players. Next Saturday is the 4BBB Championships for both men and ladies, Get a partner, book in on line and be there for a 11:00 for a 11:30 start if you can.

Judi Newman topped off a good day by winning the Chook and Mary Peterson the collectors stubby holder in Chooklotto.

Numbers were up also at Wednesday’s golf at Yea with 19 men and 13 ladies in the fields. The Stroke and Putting event was won by Peter Johnston(17) with nett 72 from second Brian Priestley(28) with nett 74, third on CB Russ Wealands(23) nett 75, from fourth Phil Armstrong(21) and fifth Brendan Chenhall(15). NTP on the 14th was Mic Spagnolo and John Renehan won the Club Award. The putting was won by Sam Wrights with 26 putts. In the ladies event. the Monthly Medal was won by Di Holdsworth(27) with nett 70. Cindy Armstrong(32) and Jan Wealands(31) were place winners with nett 78.

Last Thursday Yea GC hosted the Dalhousie Vets with 47 players in the field. Vicki Clements won C Grade with 38 points from Runner-Up Sue Aurisch 36 points, In B Grade Jeff Aurisch was Runner-Up with 33 points and in A Grade Alan Pell was Runner-up with 33 points also.

Next Wednesday is 3 Person Multiplier Stableford for the men. For the ladies it is the second round of the Kath Homewood 36 hole Aggregate.
