Bruce MacPhee, environmental agronomist with the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association Couch has kindly placed a call to its members to provide couch sprigs for the Yea Golf Club. Bob Glenister is pursuing this in our behalf. The article in the recent AGCSA NEWSLETTER follows
The AGCSA has been contacted by Yea Golf Club (Vic) this week to help assist them source some couchgrass sprigs for a fairway conversion project. The club, which is located just under two hours north east of Melbourne, relies solely on volunteers to maintain the course and is about to undertake a project to convert its cool-season fairways to warm-season.
The AGCSA is putting the call out to other clubs in Victoria to see if they can assist by providing couchgrass sprigs/scarifyings (Santa Ana is the preferred variety) around the start of November. If your club is able to assist, please contact AGCSA senior agronomist Bruce Macphee on (03) 9548 8600 or email bruce@agcsa.com.au.
Bruce has a possibility of sprigs bring sourced from Kingston Heath G C.
Then….all we need is a broader band of club members to join in and do the preparation and sowing of a couple of fairways!
Go Royal Yea GC!
