Red Stableford Saturday

SATURDAY GOLF REPORT
A typical Yea day. Early fog, a few spots of rain, brilliant spring sunshine and cool finish was the order of the day for the 25 members who contested the Stableford event on Saturday.
Margie Wright (23) showed the benefits of a round of “virtual golf” with one our sponsors Five Iron at Ringwood to record 36 points and take out the Ladies event. Cindy Armstrong (27) provided stiff competition, finishing with 35 points. Di Elliott (26) recently returned from 3 months in the northern sun, showed she still got it with a fine 32 points to claim third place. There were no winners in the Ladies NTP on the 18th Hole.
18 Men contested a Stableford event, playing off the Red Tees and reduced handicaps. The shorter holes and excellent conditions provided the opportunity for good scores. None better than Brian Priestly (19) who posted 37 points to take out the event on countback from Michael Spagnolo (4) – 37 points. Bill Dredge (19) also relished the conditions, finishing on 36 points to take out third place on countback from Andrew Bohn (4).
Brian Simmons provided a highlight to his round, taking out NTP on the 18th Hole. The Club Award was keenly contested, but Rob Gill was declared the winner after his 3 month lay off, travelling to warmer parts.
The greens are being renovated (coring & sanding) this Tuesday and we still need some extra assistance with this process. If you are able to give a hand, either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning 9am – 12 noon, contact Phil and let him know.
Wednesday’s results for the men saw Greg Clements(17) post 37 points to be the only person to score above their handicap on the White course. Second with 33 points was Peter Johnston(14) with Mic Spagnolo(6) third with 32 on CB from Anthony La Grutta(17). Trevor Connell was NTP on the 14th and Sam Wright took out the Club Award.
