
Wednesday saw 14 men and 6 ladies on the course in typical weather conditions with cold turning to sunshine as the round progressed. The men were playing Multiplied Pair Stableford with Luke Gregory(11) and Brian Priestley(25) combining for a team score of 62 points and a win by 2 points from second Zach Pell(16) and Russ Wealands(23) with 60. Third were Sam Wright(24) and Jonathan Fisher(16) with 56 points. Individual winner was Zach Pell with 39 points from second Jonathan Fisher with 37.
Peter Johnston was NTP on the 11th and Alan Pell/Phil Armstrong won the Club Award.
The ladies stableford was won by Margie Wright with 35 points.
Saturdays Stoke & Putting – August Monthly Medal event attracted a field of 21 members and guests. Conditions were excellent despite several rain events during the week, and this was reflected in the excellent scores recorded.
Ever improving junior Edison Waghorn (25) had a great round to record 68 nett and take out the Monthly Medal on countback from Andrew Bohn (8) with his equally fine round, 68 nett.
Daniel Atkins (5) a past member, returned to Royal Yea after a long absence and showed great skill in posting 74 off the stick, 69 nett to take out third place on countback from playing partner Mick Spagnolo (8) nett 69.
Johnathon Fisher (16) rounded out the top five with an impressive 72 nett.
Mick Spagnolo doubled up taking out NTP on the 14th and Andrew Bohn proved to be the master of the flat stick with 26 putts to win the Putting Award. Malcolm Betts returned to play after a considerable lay off and was a comfortable winner in the Club Award.
The Stroke event was the third and final round of the Yea Golf Clubs coveted 54 Hole event that has been conducted over the past 3 weeks. Points are awarded to those finishing in the top 10 each round and the winner for 2025 was Mick Spagnolo who accumulated 20 points out a maximum 30 points over the 3 rounds. Mick was a clear winner, with Jono Ness next best on 14 points.
