Yea Golf Club held its first nine and dine event on Friday night and it was a huge success. Sixty players took part in a 4 person Ambrose event and then ninety enjoyed a dinner of pasta and desserts. A selection of wine from local producer Sedona added the finishing touch.
After a very hot day of 38 degrees the temperature cooled around 5.30pm and a little light rain fell during play. Half the field played the front nine and half the back with everyone finishing around 8 pm. The last group on the back nine finished the 18th in the dark but score a birdie.
John Tanner provided a highlight for the night when he introduced Carl Maffei for a player profile. Carl was presented with a LifeSize Jennifer Hawkins photo to take home.
The winning teams were presented with some excellent so bottles of wine donated by Ivor Brayley and the runners-up received some golf paraphernalia donated by Michael Waghorn of Yering Meadows Golf Pro Shop. The nearest the pin prizes were generously donated by Adrianne Anglin.
The winning team for the front nine was Adrianne Anglin, Michael Waghorn, Peter Johnston and Peter Armstrong with a nett score of 27.25. In 2nd place were Vicki and Greg Clements, Bruce Kindred and Jonathan Fisher.
The back nine winners were Lyndal and Rob Sloley, Paula Jones and the Sloley’s friend Neil with a nett score of 25.75. Jeff Aurisch, Cathy Blazey, Ray Partridge and his friend Peter.
The nearest the pin winners were Trevor Connell, Michael Waghorn and Bob Glenister snared 2 prizes.
Barb Scott and Paula Jones won lucky draws for a free lesson from Yering Meadows instructor, Jasmine Hobbs.
It was very successful night for the club and is sure to be repeated next summer
