The 2016 winner of the ladies ‘Mona Clark‘ Aggregate event played over two rounds / 36 holes, is Miranda Gill (36 & 35 pts). Carding a commendable 74 nett, Adrianne Anglin took out the Ladies’ Gold Medal event, a playoff for the Monthly Medal winners.

Peter Johnston was recipient of the Club Award today. This award has been ‘shared’ over many rounds by most of our Members, even our Club Captain has rebounded ….. so hang in there Pete, the corner is just ahead, just make sure you turn at it!!
Pete can be excused because, like several of our hardy volunteers he has done an excellent job on the tractor/mower yesterday, preparing the course for all to enjoy!
Reminder: Don’t miss out on the ‘Mary Walker‘ Mixed Canadian event this Sunday – 11.30 for 12 noon! Call Gary or Jan to register, arrange a partner and come along.
Regular Saturday Comp is on too, and the course is in excellent condition.
It will probably come as no surprise to many that with the very wet conditions we have all experienced over the past few weeks our hardy team of volunteer workers have been unable to adequately prepare the course for the popular Ladies ‘Isobel Bett Memorial‘ Day this Thursday and the Yea Annual Tournament that was scheduled to be played this weekend.
As a consequence both events have been cancelled. We will advise of rescheduled dates as soon as they are decided.
Lanterns, blossom and lights decorated the Yea Golf clubrooms for their social fundraising Yum Cha night. Around 80 attended this event, another gastronomical sensation after the success of prior Paella nights.
The kitchen staff were busy serving up a wide variety of delicacies, including gow gees, spring rolls, dumplings, sates, just to name a few, along with special fried rice.
With a successful raffle and silent auction of an original painting the night proved to be a winner in all ways for Yea Golf Club.
As Confucius may well have said; ‘If you enjoy good food and good company you will probably enjoy golf at Royal Yea too.’
The Club’s next social event is a Nine and Dine on Friday, November 18th so mark the date on your calendars now.
Everyone, that is members and non members are most welcome.

It was terrific to have so many ladies both on the course and afterwards for a delicious Lunch in the clubrooms to celebrate Life Member, Norma Tobias’ recent 90th Birthday. Not only did Norma have a wonderful meal, but also showed that she hasn’t lost any of her form during her 9 holes. To play 9 at 90 is a terrific acheivement!!! Well done Norma
It was particularly pleasing to see past players Betty Berkery and Beth Broadbent enjoying the Luncheon
The scores were consistently good but no group really took the course apart. Laraine Callander, Peter Keast, Jonathan Fisher and Gary Pollard had 68 off the stick, 61.5 nett to win the event. Neil and Marianne Peterson with Peter Johnstone had a nett 62.5 to be runners up. Club members were pleased to see Ash Long from”The Local Paper” armed with his camera to record the events.
The 25mm of rain on Friday had the course in excellent condition and all fairways now have a very good coverage of couch grass Autumn golf should be very good this season
